The City

Bristol is a dynamic yet laid back city of enormous diversity. Cool cafés, gorgeous architecture and modern art centres mix comfortably with monuments to the city's proud naval heritage, all set amongst dramatic local scenery.

The city is the premier shopping venue in the south-west of England and makes the perfect centre for students, with bands, clubs and cafés as well as over 450 parks, Victorian pleasure gardens and urban wildlife reserves. Shortlisted for the 2008 European Capital of Culture, Bristol is a truly vibrant city with fantastic transport links.

The Course Centre

English lessons take place in prestigious school premises within easy reach of the city centre. The classrooms are of an excellent standard with modern equipment. Hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and hot snacks can be purchased in the nearby University social centre.

Activities and Excursions

We offer visits to Bristol's attractively restored docks, and we see Brunel's spectacular bridge over the Avon Gorge. Sports of all kinds play a major part in the programme and full-day teacher-accompanied excursions may include a day in Cardiff with its magnificent castle, the Roman city of Bath, Oxford and the cathedral city of Gloucester.

Accommodation

Our Bristol host families live in the many suburbs of this large city and all are selected to give our students as easy a journey to the course premises as possible. Local transport to and from the school is at extra cost.

What's included in the price?

• Full-board family accommodation
• 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week (15 hours) on 4 mornings and 2 afternoons per week
• Full-day staff-accompanied excursions: 1 mid-week + 1 on Saturday (except departure Saturday). Full-day London excursion always included, with a major attraction such as Mme. Tussauds, London Eye, London boat cruise, Tower of London
• Activities per week: 2 + 1 evening
