London, Eltham - Homestay (Full-Board)
The Town
The leafy, residential suburb of Eltham is the perfect location for those who wish to visit the Capital. There are two stations with regular trains to Central London, and nearby Bexley has a lively shopping centre and a cinema. Greenwich, with its Royal Park and maritime heritage, is within easy reach.
The Course Centre
Based at the Mansion Site, part of the University of Greenwich in Avery Hill Park. The Mansion Site was developed by Colonel John North, a Victorian multi-millionaire. The building also includes the Winter Garden, a tropical garden housed in a dome, about 90 feet high, in area it is almost as large as the world-famous Palm House at Kew Gardens. Lessons take place in airy, well-equipped classrooms in a purpose-built tuition centre overlooking Avery Hill Park.
Activities and Excursions
Indoor sports such as basketball or volleyball are available in the brand new Avery Hill Sports Centre, with swimming and ten-pin bowling nearby. There will also be ample opportunity to visit Central London and staff-accompanied full-day excursions will include visits to places such as Cambridge, Brighton and Canterbury.
Accommodation
Our Eltham host families are selected for their proximity to the tuition premises and their experience of hosting foreign students. Local transport to and from the Mansion Site is at extra cost.
